States to battle over Qantas headquarters

State governments will vie for Qantas’ approval after the airline announced it is considering moving its head office out of Sydney in a bid to save millions of dollars.

The move could be mean the closure of the current headquarters after nearly 8000 staff were stood down during the pandemic.

South Australia today joined Brisbane, Melbourne and Western Sydney in their bid for the airline.

Qantas said it will look at incentives from state governments when deciding where to base its workforce.
